Please take a look at the Tutorials and the Designer Help examples on how to store information in a data source. These examples show how to insert (or insert/update) in relational database sources; writing to a file would be a similar example for file based sources (we can also send as well as receive from queues, or post to http, etc.).

"Bi-directional" refers to XAware's capability to both 'read' and 'write' from the same types of data sources. The example "Data Migration and Synchronization" shows how a single BizDoc can invoke two other BizDocs to read (aggregate as a composite data service) from one data source and write (decompose or shred XML to store) in another data source. The link between the two is passing the XML (or a subset of the XML) from the first component to the second component, using the xa:input attribute and an appropriate XPath reference. There are a number of examples of this throughout the Help and the forums. Let us know how it goes, or if you have further questions on specific features to implement 'write' capabilities.
