XAware to be Acquired by Sparxent by kvandersluis |
Today, XAware, Inc. agreed to be acquired by Sparxent , a world-wide provider of technology and business solutions to mid-market companies. What does this mean to the XAware community and the xaware.org project? At this point, I can tell you that no major course changes are on the horizon. The friendly XAware people you see every day on the forums, wikis, and blogs will continue to support xaware.org on a daily basis, and as their one and only job responsibility. So, why did we make this change? Speaking from the XAware side, as a founder and chief architect, this partnership does overnight what I’ve longed to do for a long time – place XAware where it can do the most good to the highest number of organizations. Sparxent not only has resources world wide, but has a rapidly growing customer base touching tens of thousands of mid-market companies. These companies are cost-conscience and results-driven, the ideal market for open source in general, and XAware in particular in relation to data integration and service-enablement. The prospect of helping these organizations solve business and technology problems in a highly cost-effective manner really excites me.
From the community and customer perspective, no changes are planned. “XAware” will maintain the “XAware” product name, and we will continue to drive innovation and ease of use into data integration and service-enablement. Some focus will no doubt be added to facilitate integration with products most common in the mid-market, but these additions are part of the long-range plan anyway, and will benefit the XAware community as a whole. I am personally very pleased and excited about this new opportunity, and believe this is a very positive event for the XAware community.
